A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: The French house lover Timéo showing us the way he does it.
Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.
Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?
As a big fan of House dance and as a beginner dancer, this mix is a ready-to-dance one! Based on the House groove, it's constructed on different influences but mainly a 90's groove with warm bass lines, rap and soulful vocals, deep inspiration, and a bit of acid. The feelings that emanate are something cathartic and joyful that push for eye contact between dancers, sharing dance steps and intense moments.
What message does the music you play convey?
I'm a fan of the end of the 80s and the 90s era, I try to play music that leads people to meet themselves, looking together. The main goal of the music I play is to provoke the dance, to get moving people in a place where they can feel free and secure.
How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?
I'm keen on discovering and digging lots of genres but House music is the one, with Funk, that is always in my bags at gigs. Lots of House music for sure!!
Who should release a new album/EP already?
The man from Bruxelles, Toolate Groove. His last Ep 'The Getaway' is absolutely genius.
What's magical about music?
The magical thing about music is that it's about the body. It is the guide!
What is your main source for finding new music?
Bandcamp, Social Media, YouTube and its horrible algorithm, Discogs, Soundcloud.
If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?
Would love it if that mix could be played for a documentary about House music, the clubs, dancers, communities sharing, and free places at that time.
Thanks for the space to share my music and for letting me write a few words about how I play it. - Timéo
