Mixed Feelings | ISHA

A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: New multi-talent ISHA brings us some very tasty music this Monday.

Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.

Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?

A feeling of contagious excitement. The music in this mix can take you to other places and feelings. Even though it might not necessarily be perceived as danceable music for everyone, I think it’s so contagious and funky that it takes you to a feeling of wonder.

How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?

Last year I fell in love with the soul jazz scene in London. Everyone plays with what jazz is and can be, and each artist puts their own philosophy/uniqueness into the genre. I love tracks with quirky bass lines, electronic elements, and unique sample choices. This is also what I try to do in my own music. In my mixtapes, I share my best new discoveries. And hopefully, they can trigger the listener to listen even more closely when they find themselves on the fringe of soul jazz music and discover even more.

Who should release a new album/EP already?

Pomo should definitely release an album! Been waiting for it since his 'Blue Soda' EP.

What's magical about music?

Music can recall feelings or emotions that are almost impossible to describe in words but that are so well 'expressed' in a track. And that means that a feeling - however difficult to describe - can be universally 'understood' in sounds, like bass lines, chords, and tones. That's magic to me.

What is your main source for finding new music?

Streaming services and social media.

If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?

Definitely people enjoying their life, dancing, maybe taking a stroll through their city and appreciating every little detail they see or things they come across.
