A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: Amsterdam-based DJ and music curator Joakim Frithjof. With roots in Hip-Hop, turntablism, and early House, Joakim’s sound has evolved through the influence of Amsterdam’s legendary club culture - from Club11 to Trouw. His sets blend House, breakbeat, UK Garage, and rave energy, always keeping it fresh but never forgetting the roots. Beyond the decks, he channels his deep musical sensibility into playlist curation as Music Director at Kollekt.fm and through his own venture, Sonic Curations.

Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.
Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?
Good energy using a clash of styles. A mix of only club beats with rap vocals. From House to Breaks and from to UKG to even DnB. Adding rap vocals gives these songs such a different dynamic, something that always gets me going.
What message does the music you play convey?
Combining genres and styles can always create something new and exciting.
How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?
Its a little niche combination of styles of music I really like. It definitely reflect a part of my tast. First time I put it all together in one mix. Usually I use one or two in a dj set.
Who should release a new album/EP already?
In line of this mix, I would say Isaac Carter. Love what he is doing.
What's magical about music?
Can lift you up in the sad moments, while make you ecstatic in the happy moments.
What is your main source for finding new music?
Streaming services, Bandcamp, YouTube and its horrible algorithm, Discogs.
If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?
A race through the streets of London.
