A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: Rotterdam-based producer and DJ Amang Djaso who channels his love for UKG, Grime, and Dubstep into both his sets and productions. What began as a fascination with UK sounds evolved into a full creative pursuit around 2018, leading to plays on stations like Rinse FM, NTS, Reprezent, and BBC 1Xtra. Blending influences from across the bass spectrum - Grime, UK Funky, UK Ama, and UKG - Amang crafts music that reflects both his deep roots and forward-thinking energy.

Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.
Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?
Tldr: The feelings of a person from the diaspora with a deep love for bass heavy, UK influenced electronic (club) music.
Expanding on that a bit more, my aim was to make a mix that celebrates the African, Jamaican and Surinamese influences in the music I like to play and make. Both in more subtle ways (sonics, drumpatterns, samples) as well as more overt (producers, tracktitles, vocal tracks/remixes).
What message does the music you play convey?
It's ok to be different.
How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?
From a DJ perspective, currently I'm drawn to stuff that's dancefloor friendly more than anything else. This is regardless of tempo. For this mix I chose UK Funky/Amapiano as a loose template to work around but also when I'm drawing around a Grime/140 template I tend to go more for the dancefloor friendly approach as of late.
Who should release a new album/EP already?
A producer named D.O.K. Preferably a compilation of instrumentals that never saw the light of day (2005 - 2015).
What's magical about music?
It's an endless adventure of discovering and learning. Skills, connections, links, stories, history and people.
What is your main source for finding new music?
Bandcamp, Social Media, Radio stations like Rinse FM, NTS, Reprezent.
If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?
A p.o.v. (or drone footage) traveling through the different countries that influenced it. England, South Africa, Jamaica, Suriname and the Netherlands.
