A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: Joygail, who made it his mission to share his joy, passion, and deep musical knowledge with the world. As a DJ and MC, he feels at home in any setting — whether it’s an intimate Super-Sonic Jam session, a warm UK funky set, or a raw grime night. His musical style is broad, but always rooted in groove, soul, and a distinct UK flavor. Outside the club, Joygail keeps the music conversation going. On his Echobox radio show Joygail Radio, he invites guests to talk about their favorite tracks. Effortlessly moving between genres, he draws from his wide-reaching archive and always finds a way to connect his guests’ tastes with hidden gems. Through these musical dialogues, he introduces listeners to new sounds and the stories, cultures, and histories behind them.

Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.
Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?
This mix feels like a story of a typical Joygail Day but then rooted in strictly makers based or formerly based in the Netherlands. A short story on waking up, feeling at ease and then slowly building up to high energy and then slowing down again. There are so many artists that I still wanted to shine some light on in this mix but impossible to do that without making it sound incohesive so this one of many ways this mix could've went.
What message does the music you play convey?
A honest reflection of myself or artists that put these pieces together. Within this mix you can hear many of the sounds that inspired me over the years but even within the songs you can hear people putting pieces together from their background combined what they've been listening to at the moment.
How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?
I'd say you can hear a sonic Netherlands - UK bridge rooted in both their respective diasporas with influences from grime, bruk, jazz, kaseko, hip hop and much more.
Who should release a new album/EP already?
Children of Zeus, Hatoon and JME
What's magical about music?
Pff, I'd be nowhere without it. I made sense of this world purely through music. The magical thing is that if you're open to it, you can see and hear basically everybody. Fabolous, Ace Hood & Joey Bada$$ were one of the first to introduce me to the stories of Black AmeriKKKa, Kano & Skepta provided me with a different angle for England, Dennis Brown and Sister Carol for Jamaica and there are many others in all parts of the world broadened my view on either issues or experiences that would've never reached me if it wasn't for music.
The people who are the most oblivious simply haven't listened to enough (good) music. Keep on listening, keep on learning.
What is your main source for finding new music?
Bandcamp, Social Media, Community radio!!!
If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?
Tbh, an audio-visual compilation of a week of mine. Begin at a Super-Sonic Jam, to the club, to a grime cypher and somewhere at the back of a hip-hop concert. Let's make this movie.
Anything else you would like to share?
Decolonize your mind. If we want to move forward with our communities, not everything has to be greater and needs a bigger audience. Better and more intentional care for our local folks will do the trick itself already.
