Mixed Feelings | Pucklectic

A special guest-mix series where DJs are invited to create a soundtrack for tomorrow's days. Next up: Pucklectic, a dynamic DJ known for her deep affinity for warm, energetic, and soulful sounds spanning from the 1970s to today.

Every Mixed Feelings podcast is accompanied by a few questions that provide a little insight into the DJ and the mix they've prepared for us and for you.

Which feelings do we find bottled in this mix?

Joy, passion, relaxation and love.

What message does the music you play convey?

To not take life too seriously. Have fun with loved ones around you. Take care of our planet, your surroundings and of each other.

How is the mix reflecting your current music taste?

Currently I am experimenting with playing more genres than I used to do. I've loved listening to genres such as jazz, latin, broken beat and deep house for many years. However, for several years I was afraid that playing too many genres would result in a messy mix. Since I am hosting my own monthly radioshow at Birdcage Radio, I am feeling more and more confident with "taking risks" regarding my record selection.

Who should release a new album/EP already?

St. Germain. I vividly remember the first time I heard "Deep In It", the opening track of his album "Boulevard". The deep and jazzy sound deeply touched me. Before, I never heard something like this before. Since a couple of months I am learning how to spin with vinyl, and this was one of the first records I bought. It reminded me how much I love the warm sounds of (nu)jazz and broken beat. I am looking forward to his next release, since his latest release is from 2015.

What's magical about music?

Music connects people that likely would not meet during daily life or work.

What is your main source for finding new music?

Streaming services, Bandcamp, Social Media, Discogs

If the mix would be a soundtrack, what (kind of) movie/video/audio-visual content would support it best?

A fairytale starting on a beautiful, blooming and vivid green hill that slowly emerges into a party with your friends and loved ones in a beautiful forrest, where even the bees, birds and deer join for a dance.

I hope that you enjoy this mix with carefully selected songs. I wanted it to sound smooth and easy, while building up to a more uplifting and infectious vibe.
