"After our brief summer break we're back and first up we will watch 'The Blind Couple from Mali'. This new documentary tells the story of the extraordinary duo Amadou & Mariam as they work on their final album and perform a unique concert in their homeland, Mali, which is torn apart by internal tensions. Since the 1980s, they have reached millions of people around the world and have become the face of modern West African music. With the final album recorded before Amadou’s death in April 2025, they hope to bring people together and inspire them. The album ‘L’Amour À La Folie’ was released posthumously last October, and in March Mariam gave a moving concert at the Melkweg in Amsterdam. A beautiful story about resilience and the power of music."
